Innsbruck Kranebitten
Der Flughafen Innsbruck - Kranebitten, der sich etwa 3,5 km westlich des Innsbrucker Stadtzentrums befindet, wurde 1925 eröffnet. Durch seine Lage im Inntal wurde Innsbruck berühmt für seinen schwierigen West-Anflug und wurde lange Zeit als einer der fünf gefährlichsten Flughäfen der Welt angesehen. Seit am 29. Februar 1964 eine Bristol Britannia 312 der Britisch Eagle Airlines am südlich gelegenen Glungezer (2610 m) zerschellte, dürfen nur speziell trainierte Piloten in Innsbruck landen.
Spezialitäten des Flughafens sind die beiden LOC/DME Anflüge. Der OEV Localizer, der aus dem Osten zum Flughafen führt, hat eine 5 Grad Abweichung zur Pistenachse. Von der anderen Seite führt der OEJ Localizer über den Flughafen. Beide Instrumentenanflüge führen zum AB NDB, wo der visuelle Teil des Anflugs beginnt.

DUE TO REFLECTION CHARACTERISTICS DURING SPECIFIC WEATHER CONDITIONS (SNOW, HEAVY RAIN, ICE ON THE REFLECTION AREA) THE ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE GP INFORMATION MAY DIFFER TO THE DME CHECK ALTITUDES. FURTHERMORE SIGNIFICANT DEVIATION FROM ISA TEMPERATURES AS WELL AS THE LONG DISTANCE BETWEEN GP ANTENNA AND FAF AND FINALLY THE CURVATURE OF THE EARTH LEAD INTO POSSIBLE DEVIATIONS BETWEEN GP INFORMATION AND CHECK ALTITUDES DUE TO DIFFERENCES OF THE BAROMETRIC ALTITUDE AND THE GEOMETRIC ALTITUDE - ESPECIALLY AT FARTHER DISTANCES. THE GP IS MONITORED AND WILL SWITCH OFF AUTOMATICALLY IF THE DEVIATION WILL EXCEED SPECIFIC VALUES. HOWEVER FLIGHT CREWS AND OPERATORS SHALL REMEMBER THAT THE PROCEDURE IS BASICALLY A LOC/DME AND ESPECIALLY THE FAF AND THE CHECKALTITUDE AT D16 OEV ARE BASED ON THE RESTRICTING OBSTACLE WITH AN ELEVATION OF 7690FT AT D17,5 OEV.
